Cinema

The majority of the content on Youtube sparks a debate within me as to whether it more effectively kills time or brain cells. From time to time, though, I come across something that makes me giggle or is particuarly poignant. That material still kills time, but that is an adult decision that I leave to your discretion. For your viewing pleasure, I present the Popdialectic Cinema.

Editor’s Note: Some of these contain NSFW language..

Lazy Sunday (Chronicles of Narnia)

I can’t believe it took me so long to find this video. Hulu, I heart you. (Note: this one isn’t embedded, so hold down [shift] when you click the image.)

iPhone4 vs HTC Evo

Looks like it’s going to be Morotola or HTC for me!

Editor’s note: I went with the Droid X, and it’s the single greatest toy I’ve ever bought for myself.

“Danny and Annie” from StoryCorps

I’ll admit to being a romantic, but not generally a sappy guy. That said … this one melted me.

BP Spills Coffee

40,000 gallons of oil into the gulf per day is atrocious, we can all agree. This piece is a nice little parody of the attitudes that have gone into trying to clean it up.

Psycho Girl

This piece is magnificent. Boy meets girl, boy dates girl, boy leaves on a European vacation … hilarity ensues. The soundtrack is pretty catchy, too.

Arlington: The Rap

Clever, musically semi-talented and spot on for my community, this piece gives those of us in DC’s little sister some much-needed street cred. At the Starbucks or the Starbucks or the Starbucks or the …

Billy Madison – Insanely Idiotic (Academic Decathalon)

Sometimes you run across something so spectacularly stupid that you’re left feeling around for some way to stop the world spinning. May I suggest this excerpt to begin to tell someone what they’ve done to you.

Spiders of Drugs

I can relate to the caffeine spider. Damn that crack cocaine spider.

People of Wal-Mart

It’s pretty hard to believe that most of these aren’t staged. The web site is good; trust J Dirty to turn it into a classic.

People of Wal-Mart 2

That’s right, ya heard – J Dirty’s back with a sequel and even works in two (!) Arrested Development references.

Bill O’Reilly Flips Out

Every once in a long time, you find a Rick Roll actually worth losing your job over. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a television personality who took himself more seriously.

Serenity Now Bombs a World of Warcraft Funeral

This piece takes a while to make its point, so you may want to let it load and skip through some of the middle parts. If you have any experience with griefers in online games, though, this is one of the great asshole moves of modern times. No hate mail over the production name, please – that wasn’t my idea.

The Vendor-Client Relationship – In Real World Situations

Be kind to your consultants, please. If you couldn’t get away with it in a restaurant or a beauty salon, chances are we’re rolling our eyes and plotting revenge, too.
